Still LifesThere is a tremendous tradition, going back to antiquity, surrounding la nature morte or ‘still’ life, and I wanted to give that a try. How to paint within that tradition today? As the subject itself is so banal, the treatment of it, the artist’s rendition of it, becomes the true subject of interest.
