Pin-UpsSomeone once said that the best part of the past is that it’s past. The sweat and blood have dried and the pain has dissipated. I think this helps explain a lot of the charm we find in the pinup girls of the ‘40s and ‘50s. They are the age of some our mothers and grandmothers, but though timeless and forever sexy, they are safely removed (somewhat) from our desire (incestuous). Worse, perhaps, is that they would have been the objects of our fathers’ and grandfathers’ desire. Some seem frozen in their distant times, hopelessly outmoded, while others bubble with the life of today.
