ObjectsI became interested in trying to create images and forms not with pencil and ink but with shadows cast by cut-outs in the page itself. These shadow images contrasted nicely with the trompe-l’oeil shades and shadows I was already painting in many of the books. What could be more minimalist than a form that could only be seen when it cast its own shadow? The objects I chose were often of the ‘platonic solid’ sort — geometric solids of a symbolic nature or the more mundane, but equally symbolic, things like tables, chairs and stools.
